Fundraisers

Our Fundraisers are used to sponsor many of our community services, including the annual scholarships and Rebuilding Together Duneland.

Annual Fish Fry Fundraiser

The Chesterton-Porter Rotary Club has held its Annual Fish Fry for nearly 20 years at the First United Methodist Church in Chesterton but in 2010 the Club tried a new location which offers greater accessibility, the Westchester Intermediate School.

Club members volunteer to serve the fish and renowned fish fryer, Dan Fulton and his service Dan’s Fish Fry, brings the kitchen to us. The day starts with set up – everything from setting the tables to breading the fish. This is an all you can eat event!

Due to high demand, the Club added a take-out option nearly 5 years ago, in effort for customers to enjoy the fantastic fish and savory chicken strips in the luxury of their own homes.

The Annual Fish Fry has funded many projects within the Duneland Community, most recently sponsoring homes for those in need through Rebuilding Together Duneland.

Annual Nelson's Chicken Fundraiser

The Chesterton-Porter Rotary Club began its Barbecue Chicken Fundraiser nearly 15 years ago. Each year you will find Rotarians in the parking lot of 1st Source Bank on the south side of Chesterton selling Nelson’s Golden Glow Port-a-Pit Chicken. Most importantly, one lucky Rotarian gets the privilege of donning the Chicken Suit!

This “fall off the bone” chicken is a favorite of many Chesterton-Porter Rotarians, and we’re confident you’ll be a raving fan as well. Tickets are pre-sold so the public can reserve their share. At 1pm that afternoon, the chickens will begin to be sold to the general public – so be sure to get yours early!

The Barbeque Chicken fundraiser has been used to fund contributions to the Chesterton Home Town Improvement Committee (CHIP), as well as our five annual Rotary scholarships.
